Accounting – We’ve got you covered

Accurate accounting is the bedrock of any business and that’s where we’ve got you covered.

We use the latest in accounting software to manage the whole accounting and bookkeeping process which means that your work can be done quickly and efficiently.

Great bookkeeping is the key

Truthfully, you can’t run a busy business if your bookkeeping isn’t in order and that’s where we at Maxian can help.

We can make sure that you have accurate, up to date books in a fraction of the time it would take to do it yourself.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised how easy it is to do your self-assessment with properly compiled accounts and whether you are a sole-trader or a company this is an absolute ‘must-have’.

It’s also important to remember that keeping accurate records is a legal requirement and so handing the job over to us will give you great peace of mind!

It doesn’t end with bookkeeping

If you are happy to do your own Self-Assessment or Corporation Tax return then we can simply carry out your bookkeeping for you and then hand over the results at the end of the year.

However, most of our clients love the fact that they can simply give the job to us in its entirety so that they don’t have to think about it any more.

We can manage your bookkeeping and use this as the foundation for producing monthly management accounts, keeping you totally up to date with how your business is doing.

And using the magic of modern technology you will be able to access this 24/7 on your very own accounting software, on any device, wherever you are.

At the end of the year we’ll produce your accounts, discuss them with you and when you are totally happy, carry out the filing process with both HMRC and Companies House where applicable.

At Maxian we have the skills and experience to make sure that your accounts are produced to the highest standard so why not get in touch now and let’s talk about how much time we can save you.

Nobody likes VAT and with good reason!

The legislation is complex and wide-ranging and even when you get the hang of it there can be frequent changes that can mean that businesses end up under or over-paying.

Our VAT service will ensure that you stay on the right side of the law and we’ll take care of your reporting and submission through the new Making Tax Digital regime.

We provide you with highly trained professional staff who understand the intricacies of the VAT system and can make sure your returns are done correctly and always on time.

Personal taxation

Self-Assessment involves completing a tax return in order to tell HMRC about your income and capital gains or to claim tax allowances or reliefs against your tax bill.

The Revenue use these figures on the tax return to work out your tax bill due.

Most people with income that isn’t generated through standard employment (PAYE) will need to complete a self-assessment return.

This can mean income from things such as;

  • Online trading (eBay etc.)
  • Rental properties
  • Income from savings and investments
  • Capital gains
  • PAYE income of £50,000 or more
  • Other untaxed income of more than £2,500

Anyone who acts as a company director, is part of a partnership or is a minister of religion will also need to complete a self-assessment return.

The self-assessment regime can be confusing and getting it wrong can cause problems in the future or even penalties from HMRC.

How we can help

Maxian are self-assessment specialists and we can guide you through the process.

We will be able to tell you whether you are affected, what records you need to keep and what things you can do to reduce your tax bill.

Whether you have one person on your payroll or have many employees, payroll can be a taxing subject.

Here at Maxian we are experts and can run payrolls for businesses that have single employee monthly paid payrolls or where the situation is more complex.

Weekly payrolls, hourly paid, per diems and expenses are all meat and drink to our experienced team.

We can help setting up your system for the first time, can run your payroll and ensure that your people are paid accurately.

We can ensure that all of the reporting is taken care of including reporting under MTD rules and calculating your pension contributions.

We’ll also handle annual reporting tax such as P11ds, P60s and Annual Employer Returns.

Maxian can act as your outsourced payroll department, taking the stress away and leaving your free to get on with your day job.

The Construction Industry Scheme

The Construction Industry Scheme, or CIS as it is commonly known is a taxation method for people engaged in trades within the construction industry.

This can be the trades you’d expect such as bricklayers and groundworkers but can also include electricians, plumbers, carpenters etc.

Essentially any trade that subcontracts to a larger business that is regularly engaged in this kind of activity will need to operate CIS and this applies to sole traders, partnerships and Ltd companies.

By the same token, any business that engages subcontractors on a regular basis will also need to operate the scheme.

Subcontractors need to have a CIS registration number and this needs to be validated before they are paid and the subcontracting company will need to make monthly online submissions.

The subcontractors themselves need to keep a full account of tax deducted under the scheme and then report this on their self-assessment returns at the end of the year.

As you would expect there are penalties for non-compliance so it best to be prepared and manage this in an efficient way.

Maxian financial are specialists in bookkeeping and accounting for construction and allied trades.

We’ll keep your books, make sure your returns are sent in on time and we can even produce tax deduction certificates for your subcontractors.
